Meet the Veterinarians of Highland Road Animal Hospital. We’re pleased to provide exceptional vet care for your pets.
I feel extremely fortunate to wake up each morning and know that when I go into work, I will be doing something that I truly love. I have always loved working with animals, and with each passing day I become more excited and inspired by veterinary medicine. Practicing at Highland Road Animal Hospital is truly my dream job as I am a native of South Baton Rouge and I have always wanted to raise my family in this area. My interests include surgery, internal medicine, and dermatology, but I truly cherish any opportunity to improve the health and happiness of our four-legged patients. When I’m away from the office, I love spending time with my wife, Katey, my three children, and my dog Evie.
I will never forget the phone call I received from Dr. Thayer (Founder of Highland Road Animal Hospital) inviting me to join his team at Highland Road Animal Hospital. I was thrilled and gladly accepted his offer knowing that I was joining a progressive and highly reputable animal hospital.
I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana but Baton Rouge won me over once I started LSU and met my husband. Our family consists of two children, 4 cats (Noah, Thomas, Rueben, and P’Nina), and a Bearded Dragon (Toothless).
It gives me great satisfaction in being able to help clients and their pets. I have developed wonderful relationships and am honored to be the caretaker of many furry family members. I enjoy learning new aspects of Veterinary Medicine through continuing education. And I have a special interest in feline medicine and surgery. I look forward to you visiting our practice and becoming a part of our family.
I LOVE my job! I feel very lucky to be a part of such a great profession and a practice as great as HRAH. The thing I love the most about veterinary medicine is the diversity. I don’t have an area of special interest…I like it all! My favorite part is seeing a patient as an adult that I started seeing as a puppy or kitten.
I joined the team here in the spring of 2008. Before that, I worked at a large practice in the New Orleans Area. I went to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in the class of 2006. I grew up in Zachary, LA and moved back there in the spring of 2011. I share my home with my husband Gabe, my son Ethan, and my 3 dogs (Sam, Celia, and Wyatt).
I was raised on a farm in Northeast Arkansas surrounded by dogs, cats, horses, and a plethora of wildlife. After receiving my bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Arkansas, I attended LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. There, I worked to incorporate the design of engineering with the science of the veterinary field and received numerous accolades, including 2015 and 2016 Student of the Year, before graduating in 2017. I went on to complete a one-year internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego, California. I was selected as Chief Intern and trained in a variety of emergency, surgical, and medical cases.
After completing my internship, I returned to Baton Rouge working as an emergency veterinarian before joining Highland Road Animal Hospital. I am excited to work with you to give your fur-baby high-quality care for a high-quality life.
When I am away from the clinic, I enjoy running, playing classical piano, and spending time with my family, including my scruffy orange dog, Party!
